AREGBESOLA TAKES HIS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION TO LONDON ON OSUN's BILL

By Ayeniromo Orun'ogbeke

Olanrewaju Adepoju the popular Yoruba poet ( Ewi) maestro, remember him? He was famous for his bluntness and fearlessness especially in the eighties. He used his albums to criticize the government constructively until a certain time that he however derailed and fell into the hands of the one popularly referred as the evil genius then - Ibrahim Babangida. Hence, Olanrewaju went into the oblivion too soon.

But before his calamitous end in the music industry, the Lalupon born poet said in one of his albums that; no one could be more senseless than the followers of a masquerade because, according to Adepoju, the masquerade have his itinerary, it is his followers that does not have one. Succinctly put, the masquerade is wiser than his followers.

The same way it could be said of Governor Aregbesola of Osun State and his army of mumu followers. "Aregbe mo ohun to nse ,awon to ntele Raufu ni won o mo nkan ti won nse".

Yesterday was Aregbe's birthday. Back home in Nigeria on same yesterday before his departure to London for an unprecedented birthday bash, the same Aregbesola had created the impression of a sobber character. He told his mumu followers, " no birthday celebration, it is a time of sobber reflections and work" . To further deceive his gullible team he went around with them to inspect some abandoned projects which he is currently and deceitfully too, trying to reawake.

A chief among his mumunic followers,Semiu Okanlawon had this to say on his Facebook page;

"No birthday cakes for Ogbeni!

No cakes; no cards and no decorated halls in celebration of adding another year. Few minutes into the wee hours of a new year for you, you were only set for another journey in search of the goodies that would further bring Osun closer to a state of your dream. And that was after a hard day’s job; hopping from one project site to another".

Poor Semiu, who is actually several years older than Kabiru, the Governor's first born son. Had Okanlawon known that while he was into a night vigil and busy hammering his device keypad to eulogise Aregbe to the high heavens Kabiru, preparatory to his father's birthday billed to hold in London on same night had left in advance to London in a huge company of Aregbesola's Lagos friends that were disguised and presented as Osun State Investment Company Limited ( OSICOL) staff and Osun bills to attend Ogbeni's London birthday bash. To beat us to it, they tagged their movement/ arrangement as " Osun State Business Investment Promotion in the UK". They are there now. They held a party yesterday. Kabiru is the consultant designate. Another party is scheduled for tonight at another location in London.

Now come to think of it, in this week alone it is the second time Aregbesola will shuttle between London and Nigeria. He came back only last week, jetted again to Abuja, had a day or two stay in Osun and flew back to London with his retinue of family and friends for an ordinary birthday party.

All these on Osun bills again?. On the bills of a state whose citizens are groaning and dying in poverty that was instanced by this prodigious governor?. Let me ask, when has Kabiru, his son, become the official leader of delegation of Osun Business Investment team ? Who are those business men and women of Osun that are on the jamboree trip ? None. I repeat none otherwise mention one Osun successful businessman or woman that you know made the trip. What about government officials, none.
To say we are in for it again in the hands of this ruinous man called Aregbe is repeating the obvious. Ordinarily, one would think Aregbe has learnt his lessons but he has not. Think what this useless birthday trip will cost the state. This was how the man did at the inception of his administration when he was globe trotting in a fathom search for investors. Today, some six years after we haven't seen one investor here.

" I feel alright....London laa wa!
I feel alright....London laa wa!

That was their song at their birthday party yesterday.
Akoni Oodua Ayeniromo.... anyway, but sha, of course, meanwhile .....mo ti gbiyanju, mo to so won mole so....." Osun o ni baje ju bayi lo o. Amin.
