It’s time to peg marriage age in Nigeria, says Emir of Kano

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II Tuesday voiced his opposition against child marriage saying it’s time to peg marriage age in the Nigeria. Addressing a conference of Northern Muslims Religious Leaders Forum on Primary Health care in Kano, the former Central Bank Governor explained that the reproductive health challenges associated with such practice is enough to discouraged the age long tradition.

Igbo Of South Eastern Nigeria, Most Brilliant Black Africa Race — US Report


A United States academic report for 2015 has suggested that the Igbo of South Eastern Nigeria are the most brilliant black Africa race. According to the report: “a search through the promotional materials of school for a black student – all schools and colleges would always show some black faces in their promotional materials if they have any – reveals that they have had at least one black student, and it was, unsurprisingly, a Nigerian Igbo.”

Several centuries of unalloyed tradition and custom of the ancient Benin Kingdom came to the fore to widespread accolade as the kingdom literally stood still for several hours on Saturday when Crown Prince, Eheneden Erediauwa was installed the Edaiken N’Uselu.

CAN rejects allotment of grazing fields to herdsmen


Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, South East Zone has called on the National Assembly to reject any bill intended to allow the creation of grazing fields for herdsmen in all parts of the country, saying, “Federal Government should not create more problems with the idea of grazing fields. ”

Ooni’s guard shot dead


Suspected armed robbers, Monday night, killed Marcus Olatunji, an official of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, attached to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi.

A source close to the palace said the deceased, who was armed, was on his way to buy airtime at a nearby kiosk when he was shot dead by the robbers believed to be coming from an operation. The source added that the hoodlums took away Olatunji’s gun.

“Ooni of Ife is Oba of Benin’s son, they are not in the same class” – Bini Palace reply Alake of Egbaland


Following the statement credited to the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo that the Oba of Benin is the third in the ranking of kings in the South-West region, the Palace of the Oba of Benin has dismissed this as untrue. The Esogban of Benin and Odionwere of the Kingdom (traditional head), Chief David Edebiri, yesterday, made this disclosure, adding that the Ooni of Ife was a son of the Oba of Benin, and the stool of the Oba of Benin could not be compared with that of any Yoruba King.
