Herdsmen attack: Igbo youths want fire arms legalised

President Muham­mad Buhari has been called to urgently legalise the possession of arms and communities by Nigerians since his ad­ministration has woefully failed to protect the citi­zens of this country.


The President of Igbo Youths Forum (IYF), Comrade Kenneth Emeh, who made the call in an interview with The AU­THORITY in Onitsha condemned the unre­stricted killings of Nigeri­ans particularly in South East by the Fulani herds­men without any action by the Federal Govern­ment to bring the criminal elements to book.

Emeh was particularly angry about the incident in Agwu, Enugu State, where about 76 members of the community were abducted by the soldiers who were acting on behalf of the Fulani herdsmen.
The villagers were said to have protested the de­struction of their farm­land by the cattle of the Fulani herdsmen, but they were abducted by the soldiers who dumped them at Umuahia, capital of Abia State, where they were granted bail by a magistrate court.

Emeh said: “l am bit­ter. Can this happen in the North? These Fulani herdsmen who are always armed with AK-47 and 49 have been unleashing ter­ror on us. If this had hap­pened in the North, there would have been another mass execution of Igbos resident there.”

The president lashed at the Governors of the South East, political lead­ers and the Ohaneze Ndigbo for keeping silent in the face of Ndigbo be­ing exterminated even in their own home, accusing them of having compro­mised the interest of their people for mere pot of porridge.

If I may ask, where are Dr Chris Ngige, Ogbon­naya Onu and others in All Progressives Congress (APC). What are they do­ing there without protect­ing the interest of their people?” Emeh queried.
He said: “The unleash­ing of terror by Fulani herdsmen on the South East and other parts of the country is a part of Jihad to Islamise Nigeria, I will assure them that it will not succeed”.
