Secretary-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede denies knowledge of Islamic killing and attacks on Christians in Kaduna and Kano

The Secretary-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, says he is not aware that a carpenter was attacked in Kaduna by some Muslim youths because he ate in the afternoon while they were fasting.

Oloyede, a former Vice-chancellor of University of Ilorin, told one of our correspondent in a telephone interview that he was also not aware of the killing of 74-year-old woman, Mrs. Bridget Agbahime, by irate Muslims for alleged blasphemy in Kano.

He said, “I am in the mosque. I have not heard about the matter of the carpenter. I have not also heard of the woman that was killed.”

A carpenter, Francis Emmanuel, was attacked by some Muslim youths in the Kakuri area of Kaduna on Wednesday for eating during Ramadan.

Some eminent Nigerians and groups on Thursday condemned the attacks and demanded that the perpetrators of the dastardly act be apprehended and severely punished to serve as a deterrent to others.
