Kano killing: Ezekwesili demands justice for Bridget Agbaheme

As condemnations trail the killing of Bridget Agbaheme, a Kano-based Igbo Christian woman, former minister of education and co-convener of the #BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) group, Dr Oby Ezekwesili has urged for justice to be done for the slain woman.

Ezekwesili in her Twitter handle while condemning the act, stated that she will stay on the matter until the perpetrators are brought to book.

“Extrajudicial murder of Bridget Agbahene in Kano for ‘blasphemy’ must mark a turning point. I shall stay on her matter until justice is done,” she twitted.

She urged the police and the government of Kano State to address the issue and see that justice is achieved while calling on the citizens of the country to learn to live in peace with one another irrespective of their religion.

“We shall give IG of police, the Kano State and governor, FG and NASS few days more to demonstrate urgency in giving #JusticeForBridget.

“I contacted emir of Kano to ask for his voice on #JusticeForBridget. He said he spoke yesterday and now waiting for police investigation.

“No state can afford to be perceived as practicing state sponsored terrorism. Kano State must be at the forefront of #JusticeForBridget now.

“Just for a second. imagine how Kano would rank in the #GlobalRanking of cities as destinations for investment if #JusticeForBridget is not done,” she twitted.

Recall that the BBOG group has also condemned the killing of the woman trader by disgruntled Muslim youths on the allegation that she blasphemed Prophet Muhammad.

Speaking during its sit-out yesterday, a member of the group, Aisha Yesufu stated that the killing of the woman base on allegation of blaphemy is a horrendous crime and for which the perpetrators must face the wrath of the law.

The group urged Nigerians to be religious tolerant adding that citizens of the country should learn to live in peace with one another irrespective of their religion or tribe.
