Information reaching us now is that Amodu Shuaibu went to Benin City, the Edo state capital, to beg for his 17 months unpaid salary from the Edo State Government.
In the evening of yesterday (Friday), his wife called him to say they were starving at home and the man became agitated. Soon after, according to the information, he complained of chest pain and he later died at night.
His corpse has since been buried at his country Home in Okpella, Etsako East local Government in Edo State.
Government officials from Edo State were seen shedding crocodile tears.
We were also informed that the Edo State Commissioner for Sports was slapped severally at the mortuary.
In Edo State, many pensioners are owed as much as 36 months; judicial workers are owed at least 9 months, just as many other Edo State Government workers.
This news of Amodu's death is sad coming few days after the death of Stephen Keshi.
