Pay us our 40 months pension arrears- Edo Pensioners cry out

Oshiomhole

Pensioners yesterday staged a peaceful protest in Benin city, Edo State over what they described as the insensitivity of the government of Adams Oshiomhole to pay them their 40 months pension arrears.

They walked through major streets of the Benin metropolis singing solidarity songs and refusing to discontinue the protest even when the rain was upon them. They ended the procession at government house where they were addressed by the Head of Service and the Chief of Staff.

The two public officers while addressing them assured the pensioners that their arrears will be paid by the Comrade government before leaving office come November. They blamed the Comrade’s governor inability to pay their arrears on the recent economic downturn occasioned by the fall in oil price.

The Pensioners who obviously were disappointed by their excuses accused the government of insensitivity and living flamboyant lives amidst their so called economic downturn.
