BREAKING NEWS : PROTESTERS STORM STREETS OF ABUJA, DEMAND FREEDOM FOR KANU AND BIAFRA (Happening Now)



As the court session to determine the freedom or continued detention of the leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra is ongoing today 1st of December, 2015,  thousands of protesters took to the streets of the capital city of Nigeria, Abuja to express their resolve for the unconditional release of the Director of Radio Biafra and the leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The protesters where seen carrying various placards with various inscriptions rooting for the release of their leader and freedom for Biafra people.


Biafra is a short lived Republic that existed in the then Old eastern region of Nigeria, it existed between 1967-1970. The Biafrans lost the bloody war which consumed above 3million civilians in the old eastern region, now known as South east and South South of Nigeria. Most protesters are of the view that neglect, failure of the government to redevelop the moribund led to the renewed agitation. After the war ended in 1970, the federal government re annexed the oil rich region into the Nigeria component.
