5,000 Ifo indigenes benefit from Sure-P, NACA free medical test


No fewer than 5,000 Ifo residents, in Ogun state benefitted from free the medical test organised by the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (Sure-P) and the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA).


The Prevention Official, NACA in Ogun State Mrs Ojo Olufunmilayo, made this known at the four-day free medical test held in Ifo.

The free medical test that started on Dec.14 and ends on Dec.17 with the theme ”Known Your Status, Start Health.’

The services available at the free medical test centre includes free qualitative doctor consultation, HIV/AIDS test, blood sugar check and blood pressure tests as well as deworming of all children

Olufunmilayo said the turnout of residents was commendable, adding that there was the need for more people to willingly come out to know their health status.

”Knowing your health status especially when you are HIV positive is not a death sentence, because there are drugs for various diseases,” she said.

She also said awareness and public enlightenment was vital to reducing the untimely death in the country.

Earlier, the Managing Director of Amamurhomu Foundation, Mr  Omamurhomu Ofurhie said that his firm was part of the Sure-P working in creating awareness for the people on health implication.

Ofurhie implored the people to always go on regular exercise and take good balance diet to enable them to stay healthy.

He said that they were targeting more people in Ifo Local Government area and its environs to come out to known their health status.

”Anybody discovered to be HIV positive after the test has the opportunity of  qualify doctors in counseling and advising them on drugs to use,” he said.

Ofurhie said having HIV or another related deadly diseases was not the end of the world, saying they could still live longer if the described drugs are used according to instruction.

He said the free medical test that had been carried out in different part of the country had been funded by the Federal Government.

The Managing Director of the foundation said that free medical integrated reach out programme was to provide status test to people, counseling them and giving people health education.
