For those who think that we in the South East are asking for too much, I have news for them, we are not asking for too much.
All we are asking is for the Constitution to be respected in the interest of justice and fairness. It's not a favour. It's rather obligatory on the President to respect the Constitution, having openly sworn an oath, to uphold and respect the Constitution.
Every zone should be fairly accommodated in the scheme of things, the pattern of voting notwithstanding. This is what makes one a Statesman, not just a politician. In any case, the Constitution supercedes the pattern of voting and other parochial considerations.
Section 14(3) of the 1999 Constitutions States...... The composition of the Government of the Federation or any of its agencies and the conduct of its affairs shall be carried out in such a manner as to reflect the federal character of Nigeria and the need to promote national unity, and also to command national loyalty, thereby ensuring that there shall be no predominance of persons from a few State or from a few ethnic or other sectional groups in that Government or in any of its agencies.
